We are looking for a Local Partnership and Community Engagement Lead within the local area.

You will develop, promote and deliver targeted Community Safety (CS) local engagements through various initiatives to communities within Devon & Somerset, with the aim of reducing fires in the home.

Main Duties:

  • Working with the Partnerships Coordinator and Communication lead colleagues to identify and establish new local partnerships while managing, nurturing and reviewing existing partnerships.
  • Using creativity and innovation to inspire local partner organisations to generate HSV referrals.
  • To deliver on Service priorities and targets by working internally with fire service personnel and externally with partnership agencies, other Fire Services and third-party organisations.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of Community Safety and community engagement.
  • A good level of education, and significant practical experience of partnership working and stakeholder engagement.
  • IT and Microsoft Skills.
  • Experience of working within the community and voluntary sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will take responsibility for:

  • Identifying and establishing potential new local partnerships.
  • Working with the Partnerships Co-ordinator to undertake and contribute to gap analysis in partnership coverage in their local area.
  • Presenting approved DSFRS Trigger Point Awareness training to local partners and DSFRS colleagues both face to face and virtually.
  • Reporting on and evaluating partnerships and events to ensure activities can be quality assured, audited and accurately reported on within DSFRS.
  • Supporting the CS Prevention team by working independently and in collaboration with the Partnerships Coordinator to secure new and innovative opportunities for collaborative working.
  • Providing advice and signposting for the resolution of complex referrals to Home Safety Technicians and local partners.
  • Promoting, delivering and supporting Community Safety (CS) activities including “Hot Strikes” (the targeting of specific prevention work following an incident).
  • Supervising and providing mentoring support and guidance for Community Safety Advocates and Home Safety Technicians who deliver Home Safety & Partnerships activities.

The post holder will require a Full UK Driving license and be willing to travel throughout the service area.

You may also need to work outside of standard business hours.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
