Our client is a local privately owned company looking to recruit a Commis Chef for a restaurant.

Position Summary

As Commis Chef your role will be to assist the Senior Chef on duty with storage, preparation and cooking of all food, whilst ensuring to adhere to all Health and Safety areas. Additionally,you will demonstrate and help maintain high levels of service to ensure to exceed expectations.

  • Assist and monitor food stocks and stock movement
  • Take control of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
  • Understand daily departmental costs and how they influence profit and loss results
  • Ensure minimum kitchen wastage and learn skills and recipes from other members of the department
  • Follow the cleaning schedules for the kitchen and clean the section and other areas as directed
  • Monitor and instruct junior staff as required
  • As Commis Chef you will be responsible for producing and budgeting for restaurant specials
  • Report any maintenance issues to the Head Chef or Sous Chef immediately
  • Comply with all hotel policies and procedures to ensure that all statutory regulations are observed
  • Comply with the conditions of the food hygiene policies

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the required skills and experience to undertake this role, including;

  • Commis chef experience is advantageous but experience working in a kitchen (restaurant/hotel based) is essential
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels
  • Professional, polite and approachable attitude
