No one day is the same and the roll can get very paced dealing with a variety of technical issues. You will have a good support network around with colleagues offering you a point of escalation, the fact they will assign you your clients allows you to build a great rapport getting to know their business inside out.
They don’t limit or classify what problems you can fix so there will be definite variety and exposure to all sorts of technical problems and solutions you can fix. The fact that the majority of their clients are non-technical they take a non-jargon approach so as well as demonstrating that core technical competence they want to see great communication skills and customer service skills where you are ideally looking to exceed client expectations in all you do.
Their clients are from all types of industries and of different sizes, so they are ideally looking for someone who has a diverse background of helping all types of small and medium-sized businesses remotely and able to work well under pressure.
The role is very rewarding and satisfying knowing you are the face of the company for their clients who will rely on you to keep their business operational and productive as possible.
To stay in touch with colleagues they do ask that you come into the office once a month, it’s important that you stay in tune with the company ethos and culture. They also have an evening team meeting which is a great opportunity to have your say on the business but also, they will discuss company updates, goals, and solutions. They even have a quarterly staff outing where they do like to let our hair down.
For this IT Support role, you will need excellent customer service skills and a good understanding of computer support, this would include troubleshooting skills for the following technologies:
Experience supporting small-medium size business & within Windows Server 2011,2012,2016,2019 environments and the following is key:
- Hyper-V & VM Ware experience
- GPO /PowerShell / Scripting
- Hosted/Cloud emails, backups, desktop solutions, Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS
- MS Exchange / Office 365/ MS Teams/ Intune/ Azure AD / AIP
- Terminal Service / Remote Desktop services / Clusters (Advantage)
- SAN`s (Advantage)
- LAN / TCPIP / DHCP / DNS / Firewalls / VPN‟s / Wi-Fi / WatchGuard / CISCO / Meraki
- Fibre / EFM / leased Lines / ADSL
- Solarwinds Remote Management Tools
- Advanced Threat Protection
- Windows 8/10/Apple & MS Office range
- General software, Sage Accounts, Anti-Virus, Backup tools, etc.
- Basic understanding of Cyber Essentials Policies & Procedures
- Familiar with Connect Wise Manage would be an advantage
