The Trust are looking for an engaging, motivated and pragmatic payroll officer to come and join the team. This is a new role within the central HR team supporting schools across our Trust to provide the best possible outcomes for all pupils. This busy, varied and interesting role will suit someone with previous payroll experience and strong numeracy and excel skills; previous knowledge of school’s payroll would be an advantage. Please note this role will be home based initially, due to the current restrictions in place.
The Trust is a vibrant, successful and growing Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). They are responsible for a number of secondary schools, primary schools, and a SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) provider and are in discussions with a number of schools who are keen to join their Trust.
About the Job
You will act as a first point of contact to all schools for the payroll queries within the Trust, providing advice, support and guidance to line managers and staff on payroll procedures ensuring the correct processes are being followed, completion of relevant documentation support with payroll calculations
You will work closely with the Payroll Manager to assist with the preliminary check cycle, working with payroll providers and schools to review files, resolving any discrepancies and getting final sign off from school to ensure staff are paid correctly every month
You will assist the Payroll Manager with other payroll administration tasks including childcare voucher processes and other salary sacrifice schemes, pensions, salary reviews and general housekeeping checks.
Other duties will include assisting the Payroll Manager with regular reviews and audits on data compliance, creating training documentation, workshops and guide notes review, revising payroll policies, procedures, documentation, internal controls and systems as required to ensure the payroll function and service is continually improved.
You will be possess very good numeracy and literacy skills with experience of working in busy payroll department where you can demonstrate supporting other professionals, and giving guidance on specific processes.
Experience and knowledge of payroll systems and implementations is essential, and applications will be preferred from individuals who have experience of working within a school environment with knowledge of teachers pensions and LGPS.

- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
