Classroom Assistant - Preparatory Department
Holywood, BT18 9EP

  • Part time, term time (12 hours per week)
  • GA Pt 2-4: £11.9149 - £12.3134 per hour (equating to an annual salary of £6,434 to £6,649)

The Role

As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing educational and care support to a pupil in the preparatory department with Special Educational Needs. This position is essential in ensuring the pupil's smooth integration into the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher with curriculum access and personal care needs
  • Develop an understanding of the pupil's specific requirements
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of educational plans
  • Contribute to the pupil’s inclusion in mainstream activities
  • Assist in managing the learning environment to enhance the pupil's engagement and independence

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Criteria:

  • A good educational background with GCSE passes in English, Mathematics, and three other subjects
  • Minimum of six months experience working with primary-aged children with Special Educational Needs
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications in Classroom Assistance
  • Experience in a similar role, particularly in a primary school setting
  • Familiarity with computers and general IT skills
