Peter Deer and Associates is part of Ayrton Group, a highly successful and expanding Building Services Consultancy, operating across a wide range of Industrial and Commercial Construction sectors throughout the UK and Ireland. They are now seeking an experienced Commercial MEP Manager to take over the daily management of Peter Deer and Associates, a specialist Engineering Design consultancy in London.

As the Commercial MEP Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic growth of this respected Engineering business, fostering client relationships, overseeing administrative functions, and supporting the technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in Business Development and Mechanical / Electrical engineering to join an already well-established company at the start of an exciting new phase of growth and expansion.

About the Role

Working closely with Peter Deer’s exiting founders, you will assume full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business, meeting with existing clients to nurture relationships and understand their needs.

You will be expected to:

Draw on your extensive construction, engineering, and design experience to develop strategies for driving growth, and attend regular networking events to expand the client base and win new business
Prepare and deliver quotes for new projects and services
Oversee insurance, HR, accounts, invoicing, and debt collection processes
Manage the company website, LinkedIn presence, and client database
Monitor and maintain day-to-day client interactions, identifying opportunities for enhanced client engagement
Provide inspirational leadership across the business, with a ‘hands-on’ approach to assist technical staff with daily operational tasks as required

Skills and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Design, Engineering, Construction, or related field
Proven experience in a similar role with a focus on Business Development and client liaison
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
Strategic vision, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability
Excellent leadership skills, able to guide and motivate a diverse team towards common goals
Proficient in negotiating contracts, agreements, and terms with clients and vendors
The enthusiasm and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Previous experience in a construction-based office, such as with an Architect, Structural or M&E Engineer, or Quantity Surveyor, would be an advantage
