Thermal Hire Ltd has a fantastic opportunity for a committed electrical assembly operative to work in a small manufacturing environment, producing new equipment for the heat treatment industry.

Wigan, WN6

  • Full Time, Permanent Position
  • £28,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits Package

Established in 1974, Thermal Hire has spent nearly 50 years building its reputation as one of the best in the field.

We are looking for a hard-working individual to work as an electrical assembly operative (ME2) in our manufacturing department.

The primary day to day duties of this role will include but not be limited to:

The assembly of the following products in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, and build manuals:

  • Heat treatment transformers
  • Heat treatment mains units
  • Temperature recorders
  • Temperature programmers
  • Sub-assemblies


The ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to working safely
  • Be reliable with excellent timekeeping skills
  • Be highly organised with the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Computer literate
  • Experience of working with wiring looms, panel wiring and reading of electrical drawings/diagrams would be an advantage
  • Holding a relevant level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering would be an advantage
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing

 Job information:

  • 28 days’ holiday, including bank holidays (holiday allowance increases to 30 days holiday, including bank holidays, once 5 years’ service has been completed)

  • 40 hours per week, 08:00 – 16:30, Monday to Friday
