The Fire and Rescue Service in Nottingham has an exciting opportunity for a Fire Engineering Manager to join their supportive team!


Fire Engineering Manager
Beeston, NG2 2GQ

  • Full time (Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week)
  • Permanent position
  • Grade 7: £42,708 - £46,731

An opportunity has arisen to lead a specialist technical team within the Fire Protection Department at the Fire and Rescue Service in Nottinghamshire. This role will be at the heart of making their communities safer, supporting all aspects of fire engineering consultation work on behalf of them as well as considering fire-engineered design solutions as part of the Building Regulations consultation process. The role will also require the provision of support and advice to the protection team and representation at local, regional, and national levels to support the wider agenda of keeping the public and firefighters safe within the built environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support inspections, regulation, and enforcement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Lead and develop a specialist team handling high-rise and high-risk premises
  • Oversee the development of risk information to enhance operational preparedness
  • Contribute to the services' Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) objectives to create safer communities


Experience / Qualifications:

  • High level of motivation and excellent communication skills with the ability to maintain and develop good working relationships with a range of diverse groups
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills that align with the NFCC Leadership Framework, Fire and Rescue Service Core Code of Ethics, and their Values and Behaviours
  • Hold (or work towards) a BEng (Hons) Degree in Fire Engineering or be a qualified engineer with experience in evaluating fire-engineered solutions within the built environment
  • Hold a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety
