The Role

Thanks to our innovative products and great team – we are proud that the business is continuing to grow, we now have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technologist to join our Functional Coatings team based in Rochdale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development - Development of new products as well as maintenance of profitable new products to meet business requirements to agreed deadlines and timescales
  • Working closely with other technical staff on the formulation and research of new and existing products
  • Application of own scientific knowledge in problem solving situations.
  • Provide updates on project progress, including regular communication with the team leader and product management
  • Technical Support - Provides technical advice, guidance & support maintaining laboratory processes, equipment, and resolution of customer issues
  • Product Compliance – Meets required Production, Quality, EHS & Regulatory policies when maintaining existing products and providing new solutions
  • Safety Commitment - Ensuring the safety of self and others

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Minimum of five GCSEs, grades 9-5 or equivalent, with experience working in a laboratory environment
  • BSc or Masters in Chemistry or Physical science preferred
  • Proficient in use of common productivity software applications
  • Practical working knowledge in a relevant formulating laboratory environment
  • Competent in the use of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong team player
  • Able to take ownership and responsibility of their work and think for themselves while being receptive to feedback to continuously improve the quality of the development
  • Hold a strong “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to travel occasionally and stay away overnight
