  • 28 hours per week
  • Fixed term contract to 31st March 2027 (with potential extension subject to funding)
  • Up to £35,000 per annum (pro rata)

Our client is a well-established grassroots charity with over 33 years’ experience supporting BAME communities across Preston. The organisation delivers free, accessible and culturally sensitive services for individuals facing socio-economic, educational and health inequalities.

The Role

As an Operations Manager, you will lead and manage the organisation’s operational activities, ensuring high-quality service delivery that meets funder and contract requirements. You will be working closely with the Chief Officer, Business Manager and Trustees.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all operational programmes and service delivery activities
  • Line manage staff and volunteers, including performance management, appraisals and development
  • Ensure services meet organisational aims, funder requirements and agreed targets
  • Support income generation through grants, partnerships and business development activity
  • Oversee compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, GDPR and equal opportunities policies
  • Develop and maintain programme documentation, monitoring data and funder reports
  • Manage budgets, monitor expenditure and report financial performance
  • Build strong partnerships with local and national agencies to reduce inequalities
  • Oversee management of the Hamara Centre premises and operational infrastructure
  • Represent the organisation internally and externally, deputising for the Chief Officer when required

The ideal candidate

You will be an experienced operations or service manager with a strong background in the charity, community or voluntary sector. You’ll bring excellent leadership skills, a collaborative approach and a passion for social impact. About you:

  • Proven experience in operational or service management
  • Strong people management and team leadership skills
  • Experience working with funders, budgets and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety and data protection
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills
  • Experience of monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Confident using digital tools, systems and social media for engagement
