Mobile & Workshop Plant Fitter
Chandlers Ford, Hampshire (with interest also welcomed for the Poole Branch)

  • Full-time, Monday – Friday (7am – 5pm)
  • Permanent position
  • £38,000 - £45,000 per annum

Our client is a well-established, family-run plant and tool hire company operating from two locations across the South Coast. With more than four decades of experience in the plant hire and construction equipment industry, they have built a strong reputation for providing reliable equipment and exceptional customer service.

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mobile & Workshop Plant Fitter to join their team in Chandlers Ford. This hands-on role involves servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant hire and construction machinery, ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable and ready for hire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair a fleet of plant hire equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  • Repair and maintain excavators (800kg – 14 tonne), dumpers, telehandlers and rollers
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and routine servicing
  • Complete service records and inspection certificates accurately
  • Ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards for hire
  • Undertake welding and fabrication work when required
  • Attend breakdowns and carry out mobile plant repairs when necessary
  • Maintain high workshop safety and housekeeping standards
  • Work collaboratively with the wider workshop and hire team

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a skilled Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic or Construction Equipment Engineer with previous experience working on plant machinery or heavy equipment. You will have strong diagnostic skills and the ability to carry out repairs safely and efficiently. About you:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Previous experience working with plant machinery or construction equipment
  • Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently
  • High standard of welding and fabrication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in maintaining plant hire or heavy machinery
  • Good attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Full UK driving licence is essential
