School Cleaner
Newton Abbot, TQ12 2NF

  • 15 hours per week, Monday – Friday (15:15 – 18:15)
  • Permanent position (41 weeks per year)
  • £11.59 per hour

The Role

As a School Cleaner, you will be an integral part of the Premises Team, helping to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean classrooms, kitchens, toilets, and public areas
  • Mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and buffing floors
  • Emptying bins and moving rubbish to designated collection points
  • Replenishing consumables (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels)
  • Using cleaning products and equipment safely
  • Reporting items requiring repair or replacement
  • Adhering to health and safety guidelines and school policies
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness


The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who can work independently and as part of a team. You will take pride in your work and contribute positively to the school community. You will have:

  • Close attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Previous experience in commercial cleaning (desirable)
  • Familiarity with using cleaning machinery such as buffing and carpet cleaning machines (desirable)
  • Basic knowledge of manual handling and health and safety practices (desirable)
