Staniforth Architects is a design-led commercial practice located in the Midlands. We are a forward-thinking architectural firm that prides itself on delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-quality designs across residential, commercial, industrial, and education sectors. We have a wide-ranging client base working on single beautiful houses through to some of the largest and highest profile buildings in the UK, with a vast range in between. We are currently restructuring the company and looking to implement new management structures and processes, with a view to ensuring the ongoing sustainability of the company. The Role

As an Architectural Technologist, you’ll assist / lead technical delivery of medium to large-scale projects from RIBA Stage 4 to completion, working closely with other technologists and architects to contribute to the success of our projects. We are looking for all levels of experience from junior and through to senior, with a focus on the latter. The following responsibilities will naturally depend on your level of experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist / Lead detailed design process and coordinate design information.
  • Prepare and present Building Regulations and construction-level design proposals using AutoCAD or at least have an awareness of Building Regulations, Planning requirements and other codes standards.
  • Ensure scheme designs comply with building regulations, planning requirements, and relevant standards.
  • Assist / Act as the lead designer within multidisciplinary teams, including engineers and specialists.
  • Conduct site visits, monitor progress, and chair meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Advise clients on suitable construction methods.
  • Manage and mentor junior technologists and other team members.
  • Evaluate technical designs from engineers and specialists, providing constructive feedback.
  • Administer contracts and project certifications.
  • Liaise confidently with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical support to the wider team.
  • Use available resources to propose technical solutions.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a proactive leader with exceptional technical and project management skills.

You’ll Bring:

  • Accredited degree in Architectural Technology or related qualification in construction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (knowledge of BIM Revit is advantageous).
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sustainable design principles.
  • Membership (or progression towards membership) of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) or equivalent.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating technical detailing and construction-level drawing expertise.
  • Ideally have experience in sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial, retail, and education.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ideally, have a proven track record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
