Stores Assistant (with cleaning support and driving cover)
Havant, PO9 1JW

  • Full time, 37 hours per week (Monday–Thursday, 7:30am – 4pm, Friday 7:30am – 12:30pm)
  • Permanent position
  • £13.00 – £14.00 per hour (DOE)

The Role

This is a hands-on role at the heart of day-to-day operations. You’ll be responsible for keeping stores and materials handling running efficiently, while also helping maintain the cleanliness and safety of the facility. You’ll occasionally cover cleaning and driving duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Duties – Stores & Materials Handling

  • Receive and book in materials and consumables, checking against purchase orders and technical specifications
  • Ensure all items are traceable and accurately recorded in stock systems
  • Cut materials to size when required and distribute to appropriate workstations
  • Maintain and log fixtures used in production processes
  • Operate a forklift safely to move materials between departments (valid forklift license preferred)
  • Keep goods-in/out areas clear, tidy, and free from trip hazards
  • Issue consumables and assembly items to relevant teams
  • Ensure accurate and timely inventory updates and stock control

Secondary Duties – Cleaning & Site Support

  • Support our dedicated cleaner in maintaining cleanliness and order across the facility.

Step in to carry out full cleaning duties during the cleaner’s holidays or absence, including:

  • Sweeping and washing floors
  • Emptying swarf bins and arranging swarf collections
  • Separating rubbish and recycling appropriately
  • Cleaning kitchens, toilets, windows, and office areas
  • Keeping the yard tidy, free of weeds and obstructions
  • Ensuring all areas are free from fire and safety hazards

Support & Flexibility

  • Assist in the cleanroom with component cleaning and packaging for dispatch
  • Provide cover for the company driver when needed (full UK driving licence required)
  • Carry out general duties as assigned by management

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll be a practical, proactive individual who values cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. About you:

  • Experience in stores, warehouse, or materials handling (preferred)
  • Valid forklift licence (preferred)
  • Full UK driving licence (required)
  • Strong organisation and timekeeping skills
  • A hands-on approach and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks
  • A keen eye for detail and safe practices
