We are looking for a skilled and driven Technical Delivery Architect to lead the build and launch of innovative digital applications that empower communities and transform local finance.

Technical Delivery Architect
Remote with monthly travel to Liverpool HQ (Shared workspace desk option)

  • Full time position
  • 6 months fixed term contract
  • £50,00 FTE (or negotiable depending on experience)

Please Note: Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK

Mutual Credit Services (MCS) is adapting financial tools from long-standing use in the banking sector for the benefit of small businesses and communities. Its flagship venture, Local Loop Merseyside, will be a member-owned business-to-business “clearing club” that uses a graph algorithm to clear invoices, freeing up cash flow and boosting the Liverpool City Region’s economic resilience.

By joining MCS you’ll help prove a new model of collaborative, community-owned financial infrastructure that can be replicated in other cities worldwide.

The Role

You’ll own the end-to-end technical delivery of our MVP as we build to launch, acting as the ‘glue’ connecting the driven Product-founder team and Business Analyst to our excellent Technical Team Lead and engineering team, reporting to the Programme Manager.

Delivery & Scrum

  • Run sprint planning, backlog grooming and retros in GitHub Projects
  • Forecast capacity and remove blockers so the dev team can hit sprint goals

Architecture & Design

  • Translate detailed Business Requirements into scalable solution designs, architecture diagrams, and actionable tickets
  • Maintain high-level and detailed architecture documents covering apps, data, and infrastructure (AWS, Supabase, Next.js, Postgres)
  • Define and evangelise coding and design standards; review pull-requests with a security-by-design mindset

Quality & Security Assurance

  • Own post-merge QA: automated test pipelines, manual exploratory testing, performance baselines
  • Implement penetration testing (OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, Metasploit). Deliver security requirements into CI/CD and track remediation
  • Guard non-functional requirements - performance, reliability, compliance - through every sprint

Benefits

  • Remote-first working with monthly Liverpool co-working
  • Friendly and collaborative team culture
  • Holiday allowance
  • Purpose-led mission making a measurable local and global difference

The Ideal Candidate

You are a UK-based, technically versatile leader with a strong background in architecting and delivering secure digital products. You thrive in startup-style teams, bring clarity to complexity, and are motivated by purpose as much as performance.

Required:

  • 5+ years in Solution/Technical Architect roles delivering web or mobile products
  • Experience as a Scrum Master or Technical Project Manager
  • Strong expertise in GitHub, CI/CD, secure coding practices, and system design
  • Skilled in translating technical detail for non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficient in diagramming tools (e.g., C4 models) and user story creation

Desirable:

  • AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or CISSP certification
  • Experience in fintech, mutual credit, or community finance
  • Knowledge of Supabase or invoice-clearing algorithms
  • Familiarity with business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Residing in or near Merseyside (preferred but not essential)
