Specialist Home Safety Officer
Beeston, Nottingham, NG9 2GQ

  • 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday)
  • Fixed term contract (12 months)
  • £26,409 - £28,163 per year

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) is dedicated to creating safer communities. As part of our forward-thinking team, you'll help ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable people across Nottinghamshire through our innovative prevention and safety services.

The Role

This role is a vital part of our team, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact by delivering Safe & Well visits, providing fire safety advice, and fitting safety equipment. You will play an important part in keeping our community safe and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake Safe & Well visits, making referrals to other organisations as necessary.
  • Provide clear and detailed safety advice to households.
  • Research and check information using databases (e.g., CFRMIS).
  • Install and securely fit safety equipment, such as smoke alarms and safety adaptations.
  • Liaise with partner organisations and the Prevention department to support vulnerable individuals.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about making a positive impact in the community and has a strong background in safety, wellbeing, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience working with the public and partner organisations.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in using tools and fitting household safety equipment to a high standard.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A full UK driving license with the willingness to travel across Nottinghamshire.
  • An understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable communities.
